Special Post for the Typewriter

This post is for a dear friend of mine... who thinks that she is a lousy typewriter....

This is what I think a bout you....

I think that you are a terrific typewriter and I enjoy your writings.... so you need to keep on writing!

Also what is all the fuss regarding not feeling that you are a woman? I think that you only have a different kind of thought and principle than most of the woman (believe that you Brother is the one to blame for this)... Well hello...I believe that I am also in the same category with you.... And also that thought and principle is one of the main thing that makes you a very good friend of mine....

So stop moaning and get back to be a typewriter.....

MOS Burger

Ok, lesson was not learn. I'm now in starbucks PS enjoying the free wifi facility. Trying to write my blog through the HP. It's still hard but trying to adapt.

Really love this Christmas holiday since it's a long holiday. From 25 to 29 since tomorrow (29) is the islamic new year. But somehow i'm only feeling the holiday spirit and not the christmas spirit. Don't know why...but since that's not what i'm not going to share right now hence we'll talk about that another time.

I want to talk about a new japanese burger resto in town: MOS burger. My bear said that he have seen this resto in spore but have no chance in trying it. At first i think, hmm since when japanese have burger??? but the review over them is good so we try it. I order MOS Burger and corn soup, my bear order MOS cheeseburger and MOS chicken. I love the burger especially the sauce - kind of spaghetti sauce! I think that it is better than burger king and a lot cheaper (all of the orders only cost Rp 60K). For those of you who are in PS, you have to try this burger. But a simple warning from me that you have to queue (as in any other new trend resto in Jakarta).

Hobbies

Ever curious what is your hobby? I always curious about what’s my hobby….. For example, my bear have several hobbies such as gadget, surfing in the internet, and watches (all are expensive hobbies except for the surfing in the internet); my best friend olip have books as her hobby; my other male friends have games as their hobbies. Hmmm…what’s my hobby? I think that I have no specific hobbies (or just no hobbies at all)…I like to do several things but can that be considered as hobbies? Just to share with you...those several things are as follow:

1. Watching Television
I like to watch TV…and I think that I consume more time in front of the TV rather than sleeping since I have some problem to sleep on let say 9 PM (thanks to the line of work which obligated me to work overtime…sometimes until 1 AM!). So when I come back early from work (around 6 PM), I spent the time in front of the TV…. and still sleep around 12 or 1 AM. What bothers me the most is nowadays, the TV is full with unimportant Indonesian Soap Opera….which made me hesitate to watch the TV…..Can you consider that as a hobby?

2. Movies

I love movies!! Movies (especially movies from Hollywood) are refreshing and you are being entertained by the story, actors and actresses, music, songs, dances, and just a glance of the world also cultures of people outside your neighbourhood. Last Sunday I watch High School Musical 3: Senior Year. It’s a teen movies but I was being entertained by the music, songs, dance, and the beautiful boys and girls (you know…the kind of boys and girls that would not exist in the real life of high school). It was an entertaining movie…entertaining it is…

3. Music
I like listening to music.....and I loved my IPOD NANO. The device can accommodate 8 GB or equivalent to around 2,000 songs… I have use around 4 GB and already satisfied with the amounts of songs that I have. My lovely black IPOD have accompanied me during my working hours, my journey back from office/client to my home with busway and taxi, when I’m waiting for somebody, and driving in the car. I really love it coz it accompanied me during my “can not sleep” moment when I can not watch TV since it showing those unimportant soap opera. But can this be categorise as a hobby coz by all means, I think music should be considered as a necessity not a hobby

Books

I like reading books especially novels and comics…I can spent a day without eating and drinking just to finish reading Harry Potter or Laskar Pelangi…...But if books is your hobby, such as Olip and Novi, you will be spending your money to purchase new books published or spending your time regularly in the library…. I think that I’m not that kind of person…so can you say that books is my hobby?

Travelling
I love travelling…I love seeing a different language, people, history, and discover a new experience. Travelling can makes you relax and refreshed your energy. I really love travelling especially when I have friends to accompany during the journey and money to pay for your travelling expenses (really love it when my travelling is free). I think from year to year…my travelling experience always accelerating….

In 2006, I went to Pulau Umang in my Company’s outing event. It’s a beautiful island with beautiful cottages. Recommended if you want to spend a romantic gate away with your love ones…but not in a Company’s outing!

In 2007, I went to Bali and Lombok for my vacation in May with several friends (Novi, Mei, Ratih, Yuli, Mike, and Oey)….. And apparently, my Company’s outing in June was also conducted in Bali…. So there are quite many places that I have visited in Bali. Love Bali a lot and will sure be back!

In 2008, I went to several cities in Southeast Asia…such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Genting, Bangkok, Phuket & Phi2 islands with Ratih, Angghi, Melitta, Jonjing, Abud, and Heri. Love it a lot…. So many new things that I have experience, so many beautiful painting of God’s hand that I have seen, so many new cultures that I have witnesses……in short…I have discover lots of thing during my travelling time.

In 2009, will I have the chance to travel again since all my travelling partners have resigned from my Company?? Hiks!!

Conclusion: What do you think? Do you think those activities I like can be considered as my hobby?

E71…. Must buy Hand phone!

My hand phone has been with me for almost 3 years now. I really like it since it’s a flip mode and I purchased it under Rp 2 Mio. One thing that I regret the most is that I bought it not from an authorised dealer but from a shop in Cempaka Mas. Now, the hand phone can’t vibrate any more, it can stop and entered into a “Hang” period in the middle of an activity, also if you want to open the text message (SMS) it will take a while for you to enter the inbox. So in depths of so many concern and obstacle found over my hand phone, I decided that it is time to change my hand phone.

After discussing with my bear, he suggested Nokia E71 if I want to buy a hand phone with internet and office function but with a good design and other function (such as camera with 3.1 Mega Pixels). I also play with one of my friend’s hand phone since he already has E71 since July. I instantly fall in love with the phone. But I have checked to all Nokia shop and the price of this hand phone is rising! It has now entered IDR 4.9 Mio where the past months it was IDR 4.6 Mio. It’s all because of the USD exchange rate is rising compared to IDR. Also some shops have no ready stock and we have to indent the hand phone. Well…just have to be patient and wait for another month so that the price will be lower. Meanwhile, will leave you with the beautiful picture of the must buy hand phone – E71 (if only I know how to attached picture to this blog! it seams that the insert picture and other code is missing so will attached it as soon as possible)

Updates on 7 Nov 2008....

Somehow and someway.... the button to attached photos comes back… (actually, it should never gone away at the first place). So enjoy the beauty of E71 which I will have to restrain myself of buying now since the price have goes up to IDR 5.5 Mio

To buy or not to buy that is the question!

Ok…this weekend is a lavish weekend. This week I have spent money like spending water. At first, I ask my friend Novi to accompany me to watch Eagle Eye in Plaza Senayan last Saturday (a good movie but a typical Hollywood movie where you could guess from the beginning that the bad guy is the computer). After watching movies, we eat Sushi Tei (Dragon Roll rules!). After that we went to Metro Department Store, where I originally intend to buy a bag since my office bag had entered its near death period. At the afternoon, Yuli join our quest in Metro Dept Store and at the end I have bought a bag and 2 office shirts (It’s all because of that Great Sale). Finish with our quest; I went to the Starbucks and order Java Chip Frappucinno while I wait for Yuli and Novi to comeback from their afternoon ritual prayers (Sholat).

Sunday, my bear have to stay at the hospital so I can’t go out on a date with him. Well, you might think that I will stay at home and take a beauty queen sleep. But in fact, I went to Kelapa Gading with my family and treat them Sushi Tei again (because I want to eat Dragon Roll again – to tell you the truth, Dragon Roll in Sushi Tei Gading 5 is bigger than in PS). After that I bought 1 more shirt and a lipstick. To tell you the truth that entire Sale really made you more consumptive than you originally are. To buy or not to buy that is the question!

Aside from all that consumerism, I think that I am not that consumptive since: (a) the last time I bought an office shirt is in December 2007; (b) my bag have enter ICU period which need immediate change; (c) not all weekend I spent with lavishness. So from the point of view to buy or not to buy, I think I have a lot of reason to support the decision of: BUY! Therefore after reviewing all of it, I think that I’m not regretting the lavishness that I have experience on the last weekend

Deadline week

Finally having access to the internet….The clock is showing 10.37 PM and I’m still in client site…should be working but I think that I need a little break from the clouds of dizziness that I’m facing now.

Deadline week!!!! I think that there is a meaning in that word “DEADlinecoz I think that people are dying during that horrible week.

What to write on this occasion yahhmmm…. Thinking and thinking about wonderful things to be share…. Oh… I have read all the novels that I have borrowed prior to Lebaran holiday. I read the first 3 books of tetralogy Laskar Pelangi.

I think that it is a good book with lots of important message in it such as how education is a very important thing and that I should be grateful that I can have that good education. I especially like the 3rd book where the author (Andrea Hirata) wrote about his experience in Paris when he received scholarship to Sorbonne University. I like how he explained about the differences of culture that he have countered and paradox that he realise such as the paradox where the western people party a lot and spend a little time in studying while he is a follower of Dasa Dharma Pramuka but still those western people have higher grades than him. I also like his writing about his adventure going around the world backpacking. I also like this 3rd book because I notice that he his writing skill have improve significantly compared to the 1st and 2nd book. So I can’t wait to read his 4th and final book.

To my surprise, my mother also read the 1st book because she knows that the book is talking about the struggle of a Belitung’s boy. My mom originally comes from Bangka which is an island near the island of Belitung with some similarity noted such as they are both are under the same province (Bangka-Belitung), there are both produce lead as the main commodity of income, etc. My Mom also asks to watch the movie in the theatre so on the holiday I take her and my dad to watch it. My mom watches it and like the book better but my dad is sleeping in almost half of the movie.

Ok that’s all to share and now the clock is showing 10.58 PM and I think my manager is instructing us to go home... Hip Hip Hurray!!!!

Waiting in the Hospital

hmm...waiting in the hospital. My boyfriend have a call for emergency action so we drove from my house in Sunter to Karawaci. The first plan is to visit Kate's house which was near Karawaci to see her new born baby. But apparaently her baby got sick so she have to go to the hospital. The second plan is to visit Angel's house to see her house and maybe can have a sneek peek about the house around her so we can purchase it. But apparaently her husband is working at the moment so she is in her mother house. So the first and the second plan was being cancelled and that will leave us with the last plan. The last plan is to wait for Will in the hospital and write on my blog... The last plan, as you see, was going well

The week before, during, and after the Ied

Ok...I'm writing again in a very short period of hours since my latest post. My best friend Olip has protested me that I rarely updated my blog. My reason for her is (a) I have no time to update my blog and (b) I’m not a good writer such as her so sometimes when I have the time I have no idea of what to write…. Well actually (after thinking it over) all of that reason can be easily broken since (a) you are the time keeper of your life so it is all about how you manage your time so you can still write on your blog and (b) a good writer is a result of writing. So given to that reason…I have force myself to update this blog more frequently.

Indonesia, mostly consisting of Moslem, has one huge public holiday: Ied Fitri (or what we called Lebaran). Ied is a celebration after the Moslem fasted for the whole month. This year, that holiday will be on 1-2 October which is next week. I, as a citizen of Jakarta, really love the Ied. Why although I’m Christian but I love the Ied? It is because on the week before the Ied, during the Ied, and a week after the Ied….. Jakarta will be free from all the traffic jam! Thank God for “mudik” tradition during the Ied.

Mudik is a tradition for all the Indonesian to come back to their original village/city during the Ied. Since Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia so many of the citizen comes from other city and therefore during the Ied they will all leave Jakarta. This tradition has made Jakarta, one of the most traffic and hectic city, becoming a very quiet and free of traffic jam city. Oh…How I love Jakarta at that moment ^_^

Another reason why I love Ied is that because the Company that I work have give us a full holiday in the week during the Ied. I have already borrowed 3 books of Andrea Hirata: laskar pelangi to be read during the next week and planning to enjoy myself next week during my holiday…. Oh how I love Jakarta when I can relax and have a very long holiday. ^_^

Cancelled Meeting

Ok....I'm writing from my client office where I'm suppose to have a meeting with the HRD department regarding the ELC (Entity Level Control).... I don't want to bored you to death with explanation of what is ELC etc etc..... So the point is that the meeting was cancelled where me and my manager have already waited for several hours..... So we are going back to the office now... I'll write again later on...

WHY MOVE?

This is a very nice article that I have got from my friend. Hopefully it could be a blessing to all of you.....

Mengapa KARYAWAN meninggalkan perusahaan?

First Break All the Rules.

Orang meninggalkan manajer/direktur anda, bukan perusahaan, tulis Marcus Buckingham dan Curt Hoffman penulis buku First Break All the Rules.

Demikian pesan Azim Premji.

Bagaimana pendapat Anda (sebagai bawahan maupun atasan)?

Waiting to go home

Ok…I must admit that today is a very happy day…. Doing nothing from the morning and now just waiting to go home…. Hmm…Life is beautiful!!!!

I should have been release from my client since my boss is still in Hong Kong for 1 week training but since the retain manager (the manager that was in charge for the schedule) was also away to Bangkok for 1 week training therefore in the schedule everybody see that I still have a client and they can not booked me for another client.

Should I report this matter and find another client for this week???? Yes I should and the old me that was still anxious over this job will do that but…since I think I have enough difficulties in the previous months and I really enjoy this time of peace and quietness….so I decided to stay silent about this matter….. Does that make me a bad person and employee??? Hmm......let me think....Quickly answer: I don’t think so...... Huehehehehehe.......

2.5 weeks to go to my holiday trip....... Hmm.....so close but yet so far……

New Kid on the blog

Hola hola… so glad that I finally have the chance to write on this blog… I used to have a blog in Friendster but since friendster is being block by the Company that I am working at… so I have to change my blog address….

I had name this new blog - In the Land of Happiness –

Why???

Because I think everybody have their own sadness and sorrow… I believe that everybody has their own difficulties and so do I… But the difference between a failure and a successful person is how they view the difficulties in their life… I choose to see those difficulties as happiness that was being postponed rather than as sadness through out my life…

Okay…that’s it for now and now got to go back to work… OMG…the clock strikes to 7 PM (west Indonesian time) and I am still working … Well just view this Company as the land of happiness……
